Come enjoy Sunday’s FREE Family Blues Picnic at the bandshell in Hagerstown City Park from 12 to 5!

TERRY OATES & THE MUDCATS (12:00)

Popping off our Family Blues Picnic is Terry Oates & the Mudcats! This high-energy blues band from Virginia draws inspiration from legendary artists like BB King, Howling Wolf, and Muddy Waters. The 8-piece ensemble performs talented original material and plays covers in homage to the icons of the past. While the band may be relatively new to the scene, their collective experience spans decades.  Make sure you give this fine large ensemble a rousing Hagerstown welcome when it hits the stage first on Sunday in City Park.

ROGER GIRKE BAND (2:30)

With a number of music awards and almost 4,000 live-shows behind him, Roger Girke graces the Bandshell to perform his original blues tracks. Inspired by 60s era rock and blues, Girke first began playing music with local bands in Eastern PA/NJ. Eventually, with experience on his belt, he created his own band. Since 1991, he has focused exclusively on performing, recording, and writing contemporary blues. He has released 4 CDs, including his 2013 album, “A Piece of Work.” Catch this mainstay of the mid-Atlantic early Sunday Afternoon at Western Maryland Blues Fest’s Family Blues Picnic.

LOWER CASE BLues (2:30)

From Newark, Delaware, Lower Case Blues takes the Bandshell stage at 2:30 on Sunday.  The power-trio has played together since 2003, and is composed of Jake Banaszak on guitar, BJ Muntz on bass and vocals, and Rick Webster on drums. The bandmates take pride in playing with feeling and a sense of improvisation, and always stun their crowds with their original blues tracks and incredible covers of legendary blues artists. As one of Delaware’s finest trios, and a mainstay of seashore blues clubs, come hear why Blues is alive and well in the “First State”!

ERIC STECKEL (3:45)

As our Annual Blues Fest comes to a close, finish the afternoon listening to tracks by powerful electric guitar player, Eric Steckel. First bursting into fame after legend John Mayall heard his talent at age 11, Steckel has since shared his gift with 22 countries. He has now had almost 2 decades of stage and studio performance! His latest studio album, “Black Gold” showcases his diverse talent and signature guitar style. On the album he delivers a range of tracks- from soft, dynamic blues ballads to heavy, low-tuned rock anthems. Travelling across the country from California to close our Blues Fest 2017 festivities, Eric Steckel will surely rock the stage!

And don’t forget to bring the kids to the *free* KIDS JAM, TOO party. There will be a magician, crafts, face painting, balloon animals, barrel cart rides, and so much more!

See you Sunday!
