Saturday begins with some rocking blues bands!

 

THE RHYTHM KINGS (12:00)

Hailing from Hagerstown, Maryland, The Rhythm Kings kicks off Saturday’s Downtown House Party at noon. This hometown trio returns for their eighth performance at the Western Maryland Blues Fest after first partaking back in 1997. “Lightning” Lewie Palladino on guitar, Bob Tantillo on bass, and Chris Jackson on drums grace the stage to deliver us powerful melodies influenced by blues, rock and funk tunes. While their playlist includes songs by such artists as Eric Clapton and B.B. King, they also perform a number of catchy original songs. Come early to ensure you don’t miss the rocking return of The Rhythm Kings!

ANTHONY ROSANO & THE CONQUEROOS (1:00)

Introducing the first band to grace the Blue Moon Stage during Hagerstown’s Downtown House Party: Norfolk, Virginia’s Anthony Rosano & the Conqueroos! This contemporary blues band is filled with funky rhythms and explosive guitar, anchored by sax, harp, and lively vocals. The ensemble features Anthony Rosano on guitar and vocals, Paul Warren on bass, J.B. Bustillos on harp/sax, and Scott Smith on drums. The Conqueroos blend old-school blues with modern rock to produce funky, rhythmic, and unforgettable tunes. The band was voted “Best Blues” 3 years in a row and ended 2016 with “Best Live Performance” and “Album of the Year” nominations in the VEER Music Awards. On April 11, the band excitedly released a self-titled album produced by Mike Zito at NOLA studios in New Orleans. The CD of course debuted at #1 on the Amazon “Hot New Releases” list and the iTunes Blues Chart. DEROBERT & THE HALF TRUTHS (2:00)

Also joining us Saturday are the flag bearers of Nashville Soul, DeRobert & the Half-Truths! The Half-Truths, originally a collection of studio musicians under G.E.D. Soul Records, evolved into an impressive soul powerhouse, solidified with the addition of DeRobert Adams’ vocal skills. The funky, syncopated soul of DeRobert & the Half Truths is reflected in their records and albums, which are punctuated by themes of heartbreak and struggling to stay afloat. With ten years of experience grinding out track after track, this Tennessee gem offers the best of funk, blues, and R&B tunes!
