Two unique and different emcees will host our 23rd annual Western Maryland Blues Fest! On Friday, straight outta Winchester, VA, comes Joe Boyd, whose passion for music is equaled by his desire to help the community. He has served as emcee, stage manager, committee member, and Chairman for the Winchester Blues House Festival, which benefited various charities; and he organized the Blues House “ROCK” concert which benefited the Shenandoah Area Agency on Aging. You won’t be surprised to find out that Joe is also Head Santa for the Santa Stomp which raises funds for Big Brothers, Big Sisters. You’ll know Joe as our 2017 emcee as well as our 2018 Cabin Fever Blues Bash emcee. He’s definitely a big guy with a big heart!
On Saturday, Paul Benjamin hosts the day’s events. Paul’s from Maine, but travels the country producing Blues events, and we are lucky to have had his assistance booking the majority of this year’s acts. Paul founded the North Atlantic Blues Festival in 1990. He has been a guest speaker at the Toronto Blue Summit, Cutting Edge in New Orleans, and the New England Blues Summit. He has served on the Board of Directors of the Blues Foundation, sits on the Maine Arts Commission, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Robert Johnson Foundation. In 2018, in addition to booking the Western Maryland Blues Fest, Paul is involved with the Suncoast Blues Festival (Sarasota, FL), the Gloucester Blues Festival (Gloucester, MA), the Bradenton Blues Festival (Bradenton, FL), and the North Atlantic Blues Festival (Rockland, ME). We are delighted to have Paul join our forces for musical good this year!
